GORDON, NE – Col. Tom Brewer, a Gordon native and military veteran with 36 years of decorated service, announced today that he would seek the District 43 seat in the Nebraska Legislature, currently held by Al Davis.

“Nebraska is home and I have a strong desire to continue serving the people of this great state,” Brewer said. “After traveling the district and listening to voters’ concerns, there is a clear demand for conservative leadership in the Legislature.”

Brewer grew up on the family farm near Gordon and worked at the local CO-OP before his military career sent him on tours of duty around the globe, including Operation Desert Storm in Iraq, six tours in Afghanistan, and commanding the CENTCOM Counter-Narcotics Task Force in Central Asia.

Brewer recently retired from military service due to injuries sustained from a rocket-propelled grenade attack while leading a counter-narcotics mission in Afghanistan.

“My career has been dedicated to serving Nebraskans and defending our rights and freedoms,” Brewer said. “It would be a privilege to continue that service to my state and country in the Legislature.”

Brewer said his campaign would focus on issues important to Western Nebraska, including tax reform, agriculture, public safety, immigration, and health care.

“People in my hometown and throughout the district are concerned their priorities have been ignored and their voices unheard by this legislature,” Brewer said. “I know the challenges they face and believe I can provide the leadership they need.”
